Molly Williams
This woman indeed is famous. That’s the reason why I’m
writing this. She went from glory to glory, a beautiful woman
and a beautiful story. She is a tremendous encouragement
to female firefighters throughout the country: to know her
history, thousands are hungry. Her accomplishments, we
should take to the mountain and shout! She was a slave
to a Captain of a fire house, in 1815 see, she was volunteer
#11 for Oceanus in New York City. She has even encouraged
me as a writer. Molly is a prototype of all female firefighters.
She is simply amazing. She makes others want to succeed.
Molly was known for beating the horses hitched to the wagon
on the way to fires in NYC. Miss Williams got around. She
pulled the pumber to fires through the deep snow drifts
of the blizzard of 1818 to save towns. The work she
did made her heart glad. While she was known for
wearing an apron and a doo rag. This woman I salute,
she wore the first fire lady boot. She seemed to never
get tired, but was full of strength, character and was
respected by her fellow firefighters.
